Higher education hosting, end to end
University Umbraco hosting is structurally different from generic commercial hosting. Procurement runs through six regional HE consortia (SUPC, APUC, HEPCW, LUPC, NEUPC, NWUPC) which require formal framework presence rather than ad-hoc supplier selection. The Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations apply explicitly to HE institutions, with regulatory teeth that do not exist in commercial work. Departments and faculties often run their own Umbraco sites on different upgrade cycles, so multi-site management is the rule rather than the exception. Student personal data falls under UK GDPR with sector-specific guidance from Universities UK and Jisc. We designed our HE practice around these realities rather than retrofitting them.
What we run for HE institutions as standard: UK-only data residency with named datacentre locations, WCAG 2.2 Level AA supported through editor practice and theme implementation guidance, ISO 27001 certified upstream datacentre partners, UK GDPR data processing agreements with student data clauses where required, structured backup retention with 30-day point-in-time recovery, multi-site management across faculty, department and project sites on shared infrastructure with isolated databases, named technical contacts on every account, and the documentation HE procurement actually asks for.
The reviews are about the same things, over and over:
speed of response, depth of expertise, and named engineers who know the platform.
