GreenStack is built on Docker Swarm and Ubuntu Linux industry-standard technologies that power some of the world's largest websites.

Your developers don't need to know these technologies though. We've handled all the setup and configuration so you can focus on building great Umbraco sites.

GreenStack Core supports all versions of Umbraco from version 13 onwards.

GreenStack Pro and Scale support Umbraco 17 and above. This is because load-balanced backoffice support was introduced in Umbraco 17, which is essential for our multi-replica architecture.

If you're running Umbraco 10-16 and need load balancing, we recommend upgrading to Umbraco 17 to take full advantage of GreenStack Pro's capabilities.

Replicas are copies of your website running at the same time in different locations. Think of it like having multiple versions of your site ready to serve visitors, if one has a problem, the others keep working seamlessly.

With GreenStack Pro and above, your site runs on at least two replicas in physically separate datacentres. This means better performance and automatic protection, if one server goes down, your visitors are instantly directed to another without any downtime.

Need to handle more traffic? You can add extra replicas to spread the load and keep everything running smoothly.

We handle the migration end to end. We pull a full backup from your Cloud environment, restore it onto GreenStack, reconfigure the deployment pipeline to your choice of CI/CD model, update DNS, and run a parallel cutover with no downtime. Most migrations from Cloud complete within a working week. Free as part of onboarding.

If you currently deploy through Umbraco's CI/CD Flow with GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps, those pipelines port across with minimal changes (we'll help you adjust them as part of the migration). If you currently deploy via the Cloud Git push model, we'll set up a direct CI/CD pipeline that replaces it. Either way you keep deploying.

Umbraco Deploy is part of Cloud's tooling and doesn't come across. We recommend uSync (free, open source) or uSync Complete (commercial, with the additional Migrations, Roles, Forms and Publisher modules) as the replacement for schema serialisation and content synchronisation. Both are well-maintained Umbraco community packages. We'll help you swap Deploy for uSync as part of the migration so your team keeps the schema-in-code workflow they're used to.

By default we let you control upgrade timing yourself, which is one of the common reasons customers switch from Cloud. If you want us to handle Umbraco patches on a schedule (weekly, monthly, on release), we can do that as a managed service.

No long-term lock-in. We bill monthly with no minimum term. If GreenStack doesn't work out for you, you take your site and go.

GreenStack Scale is our enterprise tier with custom configuration: additional replicas, larger Azure SQL tiers, dedicated nodes, multi-region deployment. We'll scope this with you on a call. Cloud's enterprise pricing is typically several multiples higher.
