Powered by 100%
Renewable Energy
Every datacentre we use runs on 100% renewable energy - wind, solar, and hydropower, paired with energy-efficient hardware. We chose our partners specifically because of their renewable commitments, not despite them.
Beyond renewable infrastructure, we also offset carbon for every customer through our partnership with Ecologi. We commit 5% of every hosting fee to tree planting on your behalf - typically four or more trees per customer per month, at no additional cost to you.
Recognised in 2025 as Best Eco-Friendly Hosting & Development Provider at the SME News Awards, and runner-up for Green Business of the Year at the Petersfield Awards 2023.
Umbraco hosting
FAQs
Questions about our Umbraco hosting? Below are the answers we give most often, covering the platform and what comes as standard.
Yes!
We can provide a starter YAML file for either GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps to build and deploy your website.
These can be used with Umbraco 7, 8, 9 and 10+
The steps our starter YAML CI/CD can carry out are:
- Checkout (inc submodules)
- Generate CSS from SASS
- Build using MSBuild
- Deploy using Web Deploy
- Tag repo on completion
We are able to provide more advanced or custom CI/CD integrations on request.
Yes.
If you need limits above our predefined packages, open a support ticket and ask for an increase.
No.
There is no charge to migrate your website to us, and we handle the whole thing for you, CI/CD integration included.
Legacy hosting exists for Umbraco v4 to v12.
Umbraco 13 through 17 will technically run here as well, but for those versions we point people at GreenStack instead: a dedicated Azure SQL database, containerised infrastructure, and a platform actually built for what Umbraco 13+ expects.
Database performance:
GreenStack: a dedicated Azure SQL database, yours alone
Legacy: SQL Express shared with 200+ other databases on the same server
The database difference alone is substantial. You are not competing with hundreds of other sites for resources.
Infrastructure:
GreenStack: Ubuntu Linux with Docker containerisation
Legacy: Windows Server with shared resources
Control panel:
GreenStack: UmbPanel, proprietary and actively developed
Legacy: SolidCP, a standard panel in maintenance mode
Deployment:
GreenStack: CI/CD, pre-configured
Legacy: Web Deploy or FTP, done manually
Platform status:
GreenStack: actively developed, improving continuously
Legacy: maintained for compatibility with older Umbraco versions
Support:
GreenStack: one-hour priority response
Legacy: four-hour standard response
For Umbraco 13+, GreenStack gives you considerably better infrastructure for the money. Legacy exists for v4-12, which cannot run on containerised infrastructure.
Yes, technically it works. Umbraco 13-16 runs on both Legacy and GreenStack.
We still recommend GreenStack for v13+, because:
A dedicated Azure SQL database rather than SQL Express shared with 200+ sites
Containerised infrastructure rather than shared Windows hosting
The UmbPanel control panel rather than SolidCP
One-hour priority support rather than four-hour standard
A platform under active development rather than one being maintained
Legacy makes sense when:
You are on Umbraco v4-12, which cannot run on GreenStack
You have specific Windows Server dependencies
For most Umbraco 13+ sites, GreenStack Core costs less than UmbOne and gives you far better infrastructure.
Yes, on GreenStack. Umbraco 17 runs on .NET 10 and is fully supported on GreenStack.
we'll help you find the right platform for your situation.
