Powered by 100%
Renewable Energy
Every datacentre we use runs on 100% renewable energy - wind, solar, and hydropower, paired with energy-efficient hardware. We chose our partners specifically because of their renewable commitments, not despite them.
Beyond renewable infrastructure, we also offset carbon for every customer through our partnership with Ecologi. We commit 5% of every hosting fee to tree planting on your behalf - typically four or more trees per customer per month, at no additional cost to you.
Recognised in 2025 as Best Eco-Friendly Hosting & Development Provider at the SME News Awards, and runner-up for Green Business of the Year at the Petersfield Awards 2023.
Umbraco hosting
FAQs
Questions about our Umbraco hosting? Here's what we get asked most about the platform and what's included as standard.
Yes!
We can provide a starter YAML file for either GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps to build and deploy your website.
These can be used with Umbraco 7, 8, 9 and 10+
The steps our starter YAML CI/CD can carry out are:
- Checkout (inc submodules)
- Generate CSS from SASS
- Build using MSBuild
- Deploy using Web Deploy
- Tag repo on completion
We are able to provide more advanced or custom CI/CD integrations on request.
Yes.
Need limits above the standard packages? Open a support ticket and ask for an increase.
No.
We don't charge to migrate your site across, and we'll handle the lot for you, CI/CD integration included.
Legacy hosting is built for Umbraco v4 to v12.
Umbraco 13 through 17 will run on it too, but we'd steer you to GreenStack for those: a dedicated Azure SQL database, containerised infrastructure, and a platform that matches what Umbraco 13+ was designed for.
Database performance:
GreenStack: a dedicated Azure SQL database just for your site
Legacy: SQL Express shared with 200-odd other databases on the one server
That difference alone is a big one. You're not fighting hundreds of other sites for database resources.
Infrastructure:
GreenStack: Ubuntu Linux with Docker containerisation
Legacy: Windows Server with shared resources
Control panel:
GreenStack: UmbPanel, ours and actively developed
Legacy: SolidCP, a standard panel in maintenance mode
Deployment:
GreenStack: CI/CD, ready to go
Legacy: Web Deploy or FTP, by hand
Platform status:
GreenStack: actively developed and improving
Legacy: maintained so older Umbraco versions keep working
Support:
GreenStack: one-hour priority response
Legacy: four-hour standard response
For Umbraco 13+, GreenStack gives you a lot more infrastructure for the money. Legacy is there for v4-12, which can't run on containerised infrastructure.
Yes, it works. Umbraco 13-16 will run on either Legacy or GreenStack.
We'd still push you towards GreenStack for v13 and up:
Your own Azure SQL database rather than SQL Express shared with 200-odd sites
Containerised infrastructure rather than shared Windows hosting
UmbPanel rather than SolidCP
One-hour priority support rather than four-hour standard
A platform still being developed rather than just maintained
Legacy is the right pick when:
You're on Umbraco v4-12, which won't run on GreenStack
You've got Windows Server dependencies you can't drop
For most Umbraco 13+ sites, GreenStack Core works out cheaper than UmbOne with far better infrastructure behind it.
Yes, on GreenStack. Umbraco 17 runs on .NET 10 and is fully supported on GreenStack.
GreenStack offers dedicated Azure SQL, containerized infrastructure, and expert support.
