High availability isn't a separate UmbHost product - it's a tier of GreenStack, our modern Umbraco hosting platform. Two products deliver high availability:
GreenStack Pro runs your site across two replicas in physically separate datacentres, with automatic failover and a 99.9% uptime guarantee. The right choice for business-critical Umbraco platforms that need HA without the complexity of custom infrastructure.
GreenStack Scale extends to three or more replicas, dedicated nodes, custom failover configurations, and ten datacentre regions worldwide. The right choice for high-traffic platforms, regulated industries, or sites with specific performance, redundancy, or compliance requirements.
Both run on Umbraco 17+ - load-balanced backoffice support is a v17 feature, and HA architecture requires it.
What "high availability" actually means here
Multi-datacentre replicas
Your site runs across at least two replicas in physically separate datacentres on Pro, three or more on Scale. If one fails or we're maintaining it, the others stay online - visitors don't see the difference.
Automatic failover
No manual intervention, no DNS changes, no waiting for engineers. If a replica fails, traffic shifts to another instantly. Your operations team doesn't get woken up at 3am.
Zero-downtime deployments
Deploy new code during business hours without taking your site offline. Updates roll through replicas one at a time, so there's always at least one replica serving live traffic.
99.9% uptime guarantee
Operationally backed by the multi-datacentre architecture above. Pro and Scale both include the 99.9% guarantee as standard - it's not an upgrade or an add-on tier.
Dedicated nodes available
On GreenStack Scale, your replicas can run on dedicated hardware rather than shared infrastructure. No noisy neighbours, predictable performance, and configurable resources for sites with specific performance requirements.
Load-balanced Umbraco 17+ backoffice
Most generalist hosts can't load-balance the Umbraco backoffice. We can, because Umbraco 17 introduced proper backoffice load-balancing support and our platform implements it correctly. Editors get a smooth experience even under heavy traffic.

Every datacentre we use runs on 100% renewable energy - wind, solar, and hydropower, paired with energy-efficient hardware. We chose our partners specifically because of their renewable commitments, not despite them.
Beyond renewable infrastructure, we also offset carbon for every customer through our partnership with Ecologi. We commit 5% of every hosting fee to tree planting on your behalf - typically four or more trees per customer per month, at no additional cost to you.
