Our truly sustainable web hosting for Umbraco and WordPress has had its membership in the Green Web Foundation renewed for another year, reaffirming that every site we host runs on verified renewable energy.
The Green Web Foundation is an independent non-profit that maintains the world's largest open dataset of websites running on green power. Their verification process requires us to provide evidence that the electricity powering our infrastructure comes from renewable sources, and that evidence is reviewed against a rigorous set of criteria before we're listed on their public registry. It isn't a badge you can simply pay for, it's a technical audit of where your power actually comes from.
This matters more than it might first appear. The internet as a whole is responsible for a significant and growing share of global carbon emissions, with data centres consuming vast amounts of electricity around the clock. Alongside our Green Web Foundation membership, we continue to fund our own reforestation project through Ecologi.
